Family Mini Sessions at The Saol Project Micro Flower Farm

How does a glass greenhouse in the snow filled with pine trees, rustic decorations, a red velvet bench and white blankets sound? Like a dream? Yeah, I agree. So you can imagine my excitement when getting to take families to this unique location between Guelph and Cambridge for holiday photos this past December. And also, it’s why I am SO excited to see the hanging-flower spring setup in the greenhouse for more couple & family shoots this May 7!

Hannah over at the Saol Project was so sweet to chat and work with. We were able to chat about Newfoundland where I’m from, as she has lived and worked there in the past, as well as Ireland where I lived in 2019/2020, as her husband is from there. P.S., “Saol” (pronounced “sail”) means “Life” in Gaelic.

So, let’s walk through the four families I got to shoot here in December. I’ll choose a few highlight photos from each session, but scroll to the bottom to see a bigger gallery of images from the day! ALSO, watch the sun as it gets lower and lower in the sky as we move through these 30-minute afternoon mini sessions, slowly moving us into golden hour.

This first family came dressed to the NINES. Look how beautiful these girls look, and the easy smiles I was able to elicit! Also, their Dad happened to be from Newfoundland too!

Next, bring on the babies. My second family included a beautiful couple with their first child name Mikayla. When I think of her, I think of the eyebrow pic (in the gallery at the bottom); her parents were so happy to capture her frequent “look.” I’m glad I got to capture her true personality during this mini session.

Next up, we have the littlest baby of the day. This little joy was just 6 weeks old for his first ever photoshoot. Just wait until you see his little outfit!! At the end of this session we reached PEAK golden hour time, so I was sure to get some photos of just mom and dad before they left and was able to get that golden sun coming through the glass walls of the greenhouse.

Last but certainly not least, I got to finish my back-to-back baby shoots with TWINS. If you know me well, you’ll know that having twins has always been my dream, so this day couldn’t have finished off any better for me. Bonus, their parents were SO friendly and easy to make laugh, so we were able to get many beautiful, smiley shots with their boys.

And there we are! The four holiday sessions I did at the Saol Project in December!

The greatest news: I will be returning to the Saol Project on May 7th, just before Mother’s Day, for a spring-inspired set up in the greenhouse with a HANGING FLOWER DISPLAY. Sorry for the caps lock, but it’s quite exciting. I know after seeing how amazing Hannah made the holiday set up that it’ll exceed my expectations once again.

I’ve opened up to bookings TODAY and already have three slots filled with only seven times remaining. If you book before April 15, it’s 20% off! But I’m not expecting these slots to be available past that. Come meet me for a mini session in the greenhouse, located between Guelph and Cambridge, Ontario.

Let me know what you think of these shots! And stick around for a blog post in May with the newest Spring setup.
